Learning Disabilities
About our Learning Disabilities Services
Rehability UK has been working with people living with mild, moderate, severe and profound learning disabilities for a decade. These services provide complex needs and those with additional physical disabilities.
Supported Living
Our supported living care offers individuals with learning disabilities independence and personalised support, helping them build essential life skills like cooking, budgeting and managing daily tasks in a safe community. Supported living offers flexible care, from occasional visits to higher-needs support. Our teams can flex the support over time to help people we support achieve more choices, control and independence.
Residential care
Our residential care for individuals with learning disabilities provides 24/7 support in a structured, nurturing environment tailored to complex needs. We focus on daily living assistance, social engagement, community-building and fostering connections. Our specially adapted properties accommodate dual diagnoses and complex physical health needs, promoting comfort, inclusion and high quality of life.
Day Centres
Day Centres
Our day centres offer enriching daily activities and outings, enhancing individual lives. Activities include trips to cinemas, museums, wildlife centres and on-site options like flower arranging, cooking and life skills. Sensory rooms support visual processing and motor skills, promoting engagement and
skill-building for enhanced day-to-day living.
How we help
Person-centred approaches
We build care around individuals’ unique needs, strengths and goals. This fosters
self-determination, while inclusion further enables meaningful community engagement and social connections.
Alternative communication
Our staff are trained in assistive technologies, picture exchange communication systems (PECS) and Makaton, which offer accessible ways to convey thoughts and emotions.
How we help
Social, Education, Volunteer and Community Participation
This is essential to promoting learning and social connections. We help people lead active, fulfilling lives, enhancing inclusion and confidence and building a sense of purpose.
Empowering choices
Caregivers support autonomy by offering choices in daily activities and more significant life decisions, like education and work, respecting each person’s unique voice. This approach creates a sense of agency.
How we help
Predictable and familiar environments
By creating familiar environments, we enhance security, reduce anxiety and foster independence. Consistent routines and visual cues help anticipate daily activities, making life more manageable.
Strengths-Based approach
We use a strengths-based approach to supporting individuals with learning disabilities to emphasise their unique abilities, fostering self-confidence and increasing motivation.
How we help
Complex and Challenging Behaviours
We also understand that some people we support can exhibit complex and challenging behaviours.
We provide a structured understanding of underlying causes, consistent routines, clear communication and stable environments to reduce triggers and foster a sense of safety. Our PBS techniques build skills in coping mechanisms and staff training in
de-escalation and conflict resolution builds staff capacity so that the people we support are understood and supported.
Reviews
Regular reviews ensure that care plans align with evolving needs, strengths and goals. Caregivers monitor progress, celebrate achievements and address new challenges. We collaborate with
multi-disciplinary teams to deliver practical support.
